PLAYLIST FEBRUARY 24, 2013

Any comments, queries, requests are always welcom via e mail to sundaysimcha@yahoo.com or USPS to WFDU/Simcha 1000 River Rd. Teaneck, NJ  07666.

The playlists have returned and our fundraiser is now over and we are now in FUN Raiser mode.   My thanks to all of you have so generously supported the program.

I hope you enjoyed the brief chat today with Roberta Grossman and  you go out and see her marverlous film---HAVA NAGILA, THE MOVIE.   You will up your day or evening.  Next week a some music to alert you to a wonderful concert (show) on March 10 (2 PM) at The Museum of the Jewish Heritage----GHETTO TANGO

Some faces to put with today's voices---

ANDY KAUFMAN is our end of the program theme (as you know) and this is only a small sample of his amazing talent.   Check out his bio or the film Man In The Moon  .  That film has only one innacuracy---the Carnegie Hall show was not his final wish---it happened earlier in his short career and life.  The Milk & Cookies story is legend and true.   His characters on Taxi were amazing to behold---and  he hated the show and Judd Hirsch felt the same way about him.   Now you know why he is our end theme---I just loved him and his talent.

SOME UPDATES FOR THE PLAYLISTS

Our fund  raising efforts have ended and the playlists that begin on 2/24 will once again be posted.  My thanks to all of you who have so generously supported the program---and, truly, that is what keeps it on the air and in the time slot we have.   Let me say that it benefits us all---I like doing this program and, as you, discovering music and people I may not have been that familiar with some time ago and also your having a comfortable musical morning that you expect.

On Feb. 24 you will have the pleasure of hearing a chat (and some music from the film) with Roberta Grossman.  She is the Producer/Director and creator of the wonderful film that opens in NYC on March 1---HAVA NAGILA, THE MOVIE.   It is truly a wonderful piece of work and you will, as I did, just be overwhelmed with the music and the commentary---and, certainly, with HARRY BELAFONTE who made this the world wide sensation it became.  Of course, we also will have some of your favorites as always.  Do write me with any requests.  You know the email address---  sundaysimcha@yahoo.com

Here is a sample of the film from the trailer----Harry Belafonte is not in this---he is not to be missed in the film.  As the film maker said in our chat---"...the most gracious and electrifying person she has ever interviewed...".

MORE THAN PLAYLISTS---SEE BELOW

As you know this is our fundraising 3 weeks---only 3 weeks---at WFDU and I have said I won't be putting up our playlists since they are really an impromptu mix.  I am hoping that you will be supporting the program in any way you can and I also hope to be speaking you on the phone for some personal contact.  That number, as you know, is 201 692-2012 or you might also go to the website---  www.wfdu.fm

But for some other items on this and other matters please go to my MAIN PAGE  ---I know that this page gets more "hits".  Let's see if we can wean you to go there for insights other than playlists.  Just go to  the right side of this page and click on the link---Main Page.   Or,  www.billhahnprogramnotes.blogspot.com The first idea is easier.   See you there---I hope.

PLAYLIST(S) SIMCHA & TRADITIONS FEBRUARY 3 -24

Any comments, queries, requests are always welcome via e mail to sundaysimcha@yahoo.com or USPS to WFDU/ Simcha 1000 River Rd. Teaneck, NJ  07666

You are aware that this month ---3 weeks only--is the much needed annual fundraising event for WFDU.  You will also be aware that this station comes to you ONLY once a year unlike some other stations that also seem to be funded quite well by corporations.  They, too, deliver quality programming as does WFDU (without multiple fund raising efforts).  I hope you will support this program and also TRADITIONS by making a pledge---donation---tax deductible---in any amount you can afford.  We do have some great premiums but, frankly,  it is about the program---keeping 'YIDDISHKEIT" on the air. And for TRADITIONS--keeping new and old FOLK music on the airwaves.   Only at WFDU.   You can pledge on line on the website www.wfdu.fm . That site is totally secure and we appreciate your help and also appreciate your telephone calls when I am live in the studio.   My preference---call.  I would like to talk with you.

Now, to playlists.  I am not going to post or keep them in these 3 short weeks.   So here are a few faces to put with the voices we present to you so so many times---

<
Some musical moments from some of the artists featured on both programs--granted the slant is for SUNDAY SIMCHA  but there is so much to be discovered on TRADITIONS---OK---one more just for that program then---and please do support this eclectic programming.  There is nothing like it anymore on your commercial stations or your Ipods---we are not robots we like live and knowledgeable radio hosts
