Due to computer issues a bit of a different format here today and I hope you can wade through it.
Here are some faces to put with today's voices-----
For our listeners who love Cantorial music---and, frankly, You Tube is a treasure for all--

My thanks for some lovely notes about our Tom Lehrer Bday commemoration as well as some requests for next time for one of the new artists we played---Cal Scott. Agreed, he is really wonderful.
On another note now---you probably have heard of the new piece by Brad Paisley about "The Accidental Racist". Not my idea of a good song but there is one I have hesitated to play---AND--you will not hear it on mainstream media (not even on the left side of the dial). Grant Peeples piece---Nigger Lover. Do not let the title fool you---it is a terrific piece of work and I suggest you go to his website to find out more about it(and listen to it)---or request it for TRADITIONS. If I get enough of them---say 12 (even dozen) I will take the bull by the horns and play it.
Now for some comments about today's artists that seemed, to me, quite outstanding in the "new" category----Cal Scott, Zoe Mulford, Lauren Sheehan, and Dan Berggren.

It is hoped that some of you attended the re-scheduled Metropolitan Klezmer Concert in Bklyn. this day and, also, that our ticket winners were there and enjoyed the concert.
As you know, if you were tuned in, we commemorated Yom Hashoah this day. You can still hear it at www.wfdu.fm where it is archived for 2 weeks.

Congratulations
to our winner of the Mary Gauthier CD---he had sent it to another
address but, finally, it did get to the Yahoo address.
Why not go over to Facebook and like our page wfdu sunday simcha/ traditions. Let's get that number over 95.
Glad
you stuck around due to the glitch at the start---all you missed was
Simple Gifts---that should not have happened since putting the program
on the air (recorded it was) is "simple". It was the start of our
brief Easter commemoration but, after about 3 minutes, it was
resurrected---pun intended.

Next week's program will be without Comedy Corner since I do not feel it appropriate on that day commemorating Yom Hashoah ---to which we will have music and some rare recordings for you to hear and to commemorate this sad event.

Emigrating from Austria in the late 1930s and arriving in the U S via U K (and Blitzkrieg) we settled in NY.
A lifelong love of "folk music" evolved after discovering The Weavers and later the politics, music, and thoughts of Phil Ochs.
Further bonding happened when the Sloop Singers appeared at one of my birthday fests. At this point I must make mention of my wife and her arranging that. Also changing my life and focus. After that I produced 5 yrs of benefit concerts featuring Tom Chapin.
A relationship with Ron Olesko ( of WFDU) came from that and years later I also came aboard the station and the program.
Some 20 yrs (at this writing) have elapsed and I now host 2 programs there--Sunday Simcha--Jewish Programming, and Traditions (with Ron Olesko).
So--we all come down in the place just right(as the Shaker Hymn tells us)--in this case WFDU-=-The right place on the left side of the dial.
