PLAYLIST TRADITIONS & SUNDAY SIMCHA FEBRUARY, 2012

Before we talk of playlists for both programs let me first thank all you wonderful and loyal listeners and participants in keeping our "virtual" family intact all these years and, hopefully, for many years to come.   Your financial support is crucial and you certainly are responding so generously this year I am overwhelmed.  I might even jump overboard since I am so overwhelmed.  Let me write about each program individually but, at the outset, say that I don't plan to publish any playlists this month---too much to do to keep track and., hey, only two hands and, barely, one brain.  Yet,  I want to thank my co-host, Ron Olesko (on Traditions) for keeping a playlist this week---and, I assume, in the next few weeks.  You will see them below (in a different format) along with some videos.  For Sunday Simcha----hub keine moire---playlists in March again.

As you also realize we have premiums (thank you gifts) and FREE bumper stickers for your ever noticeable bumpers.   Either station ones or Sunday Simcha specific ones---just let me know if you want to have this proud display.   No charge---I can get it for you wholesale.

If you have any comments, queries, requests for either program please do contact me at the following addresses---

SUNDAY SIMCHA   sundaysimcha@yahoo.com

Now, as to the various programs---

SUNDAY SIMCHA --My great thanks for your generous support today and also for your comments when I or those that were relayed to me by Mr. Wills (who was the vast staff there to assist me).   Requests for Cantor Rosenblatt  will surely be honored this coming week.  The comments about Allan Sherman have to be answered by saying that the pledger is in the minority in not wanting Allan Sherman aired.   Not only popular but from an era of gentle humor---and pointed humor.   I am sure there was also great humor in those early years the pledger mentioned but, unfortunately, it was before the history of recordings---at least on vinyl.

I do thank all of you who pledged and also those who called for a nice chat and I also thank you for KEEPING YIDDISHKEIT ON THE AIR.  Having said that---let me know if you want that (no charge) on a bumper sticker (you can put it anywhere---even on your tuchis)  via e mail to the address above or to WFDU.

TRADITIONS--Once again thanks to you members of our "virtual" family who have supported the program over the years and are even more supportive this year.  So it seems.   Premiums, which I know were not your first concern, are going out next week for you. Before we continue let me publish, thanks to Ron, the playlist that was shorter than our gabbing, sadly.

Not the usual format but,you know, any port in a storm and other cliches.  We return to the usual format in March.  We will also return to the usual features----you know what they are.

My thanks, once again, to the people who pledged and also to the very nice comments you made in our conversations.  Your remarks about variety, mix, and memories were also appreciated.  It is what we try to do since Folk Music is not a genre it is an evolution and, I suppose, the bottom line is that it is, as this program is, eclectic.  Exactly what I mean when I sign off on SUNDAY SIMCHA---The Eclectic WEEKEND SOUND OF WFDU.  That it is.supported by you is truly a blessing and for you Simcha folks---consider it a Mitzvah ---for us all---yourselves included.

Now for some voices to put with the faces----SIMCHA first---and there I have to say that I am delighted by your support, once again.   You are truly making a statement that this is important and something that has to remain on the air---along with all the other programming and, face it, only WFDU has the ---you supply the Yiddish word--to keep this on the air along with Gospel, Christian music and all other such genres.

AND--you can see them in Orangeburg NY at the Orangeburg Library on Feb. 25 in a wonderful concert to commemorate Black History Month. Tickets are FREE---but you do need to reserve a seat by calling 845 359-2244 Ext 10 (at the prompt). Hope to see you there.

Finally---thanks for your support and your generosity. See you on the radio again---next week.
