PLAYLIST TRADITIONS OCTOBER 21, 2007

Any comments, queries, and requests please e mail wfdutraditions@yahoo.com

Opinions on the "satire" poll are welcomed---right now the count is 7 in agreement with me 1 neutral ( song was OK but artist should accept criticism) and 0 in disagreement with my thoughts---the artist a wonderful writer but that piece was " mean spirited" and not clever satire. His work is truly on a wonderfully descriptive level and does create images. Unfortunately the image he creates in that piece is not satire---which he claims it to be. It is realism that encourages this behaviour. Check the playlist to see a list of other satirical pieces which, I believe, capture what good satire is about. The Foremen do it, Tom Paxton does it, Stephen Colber(t) does it. Add your opinion to the e mail address above. Also, feel free to request songs for the 10/28 program---we continue our Steve Goodman section (requests welcomed) and our Country/Western from the 1950s and 1960s (requests welcomed).

In the put a face with the voice department this is offered this week:
