PLAYLIST SUNDAY SIMCHA DECEMBER 27, 2009

Any comments, queries, requests please e mail sundaysimcha@yahoo.com

Congratulations to the winners of CDs from prior programming. These are in the mail for you as this is being written.

The last program for this year so a bit of nostalgia was called for along with a few requests and, now, if you will permit me a few brief year end comments. The show has been on now, thanks to your loyal support, for almost 5 years and as the time has progressed I have tried to mix or meld newer material to partner with the older and much expected and loved material. A note on the e mail address re-enforced my belief that we have to move in a direction that encompasses more than just the old traditional Yiddish material but combine it with a more modern and ecumenical bit of programming. Broaden our horizons, so to speak. The e mail I received was from a young listener in Brooklyn who was happy to "discover" The Weavers. I assume some other artists in the "Yiddishkeit" vein or with messages that are universal in their sentiments---such as a song by Kate Campbell which speaks to the universality of The Old Testament and relates it to today's struggles for all. I will save that for Passover.

Next week I hope you will be tuning in for an entire hour of Comedy Corner as presented by THE CAPITOL STEPS .
You may be aware, or not, that I have been able to obtain the exclusive presentations of their quarterly brilliant, topical, satirical, and brilliant work for WFDU in this area and, happily, we are able to present it as part of Sunday Simcha---tell your friends who may like more than the "Yiddishkeit" we do and let them discover that as well.

Now for a few pictures to put a face to the voices but first---a short video of music by Seymour Reichtzeit who preceded my humble comments of broadening of horizons:
