PLAYLIST TRADITIONS APRIL 22, 2007

Any comments, questions, requests please e mail: wfdutraditions@yahoo.com

Deborah Holland was my guest on Traditions today. Some 6 or 7 years since she was last in the studio with us and some years of important happenings in her life. A wonderful visit with a multi faceted artist, professor, and mother. What more can be said that we did not cover on today's program.

Well, one thing. The comments we said we did not want to make on the air---so, now we we are off air and you should not be left out of our off mic conversation.

We spoke of Larry King as it related to her song. I told her the great line that was used on the NPR radio program Wait Wait Don't Tell Me about him---"...you know Larry King's toughest interview was Malcolm X. He finally got him to say he was Black---King had been hedging the issue."

The other from the same show was: "Don Ho died this week---that was not his real name. Don Imus called him that".

On a personal note let me just say what a delight it was to have Deborah in the studio and, hopefully, it came across the way we intended----just folks visiting.

The show concludes with a trip that the famous train The Southern Crescent might have made and then a rare piece from the Hallelujah Singers of Hilton Head Island from the Gullah tradition.

Also remember that today is Earth Day and so Pete Seeger has, as always, something for us.
