PLAYLIST SUNDAY SIMCHA MAY 3, 2009

It is hoped that you were as impressed as I was with the piece(s) by Lorin Sklamberg and Susan McKeown. Ecumenism at its best---she had, as I noted, performed with the Klezmatics and he is their lead singer. A distinctive voice.

We all have to appreciate an icon that is celebrating his 90th birthday today with a huge celebration---benefiting his major cause---Clearwater at Madison Square Garden with a bevy of great artists and there are also events all over the world with the title---Sing For Pete's Sake. Proceeds for Clearwater.

You will also note Theodore Bikel on the list here. His 85th birhday was on May 2 (we share that in common--and our birthplace) and on June 17 there will be a huge concert at Carnegie Hall to commemorate it with the proceeds going to his main cause---Juvenile Justice. More later on that.

Here are some pictures to put a face with the voice this week.
