PLAYLIST TRADITIONS MAY 3, 2009

If you were tuned in you realize that the scheduled 1 hour commemoration of Pete Seeger's Birthday ran for 2 hours. You will notice that I tried to present not only Pete but put him into a historical context along with some of the performers that appeared at the gala event at Madison Square Garden. The accounts are glowing and I am sure Ron will be speaking of it this upcoming Sunday when he is on.

The 2 hour commemoration/tribute started with a performer who, I feel, more than anyone encompassed the sense of Pete Seeger with his song "Old Folkie"---especially with one of the lines ""....when you look into his eyes you know there's someone in there..." Harry Chapin! Amazingly that song was written approximately 30 years ago and, of course, sadly, Harry Chapin is no longer with us.
The usual features and some new material started the program so that the rest of the program could be devoted to Pete Seeger's Celebration.
A few pictures to put a face with the voice this week---------
